Who we are

We offer modern, operational, proven solutions for production wells

The engineering company “Naftamatika” was established by a team of qualified engineers with extensive experience in scientific research, development, and production of innovative solutions for oil production automation.

We are engaged in scientific research of the digital model of an oil production well in order to develop algorithms for early detection of possible malfunctions of surface and downhole equipment, which will subsequently increase the time between overhauls.

Our ready-made solutions are focused on a specific customer and are unique for each field. The modular structure of the equipment allows adding elements for specific requirements, avoiding cost increase due to unnecessary equipment.

Our history

From a founding team to thousands of wells worldwide

2010 — Incorporation

NAFTAMATIKA was created to develop advanced automation technologies for oil production. The company was co-founded by Andrey Sevastyanov and Spirit Global Energy Solutions Inc., represented by Matt Raglin.

An international team

From the beginning, NAFTAMATIKA brought together an international team of engineers from the United States, Canada, Slovakia, and Armenia who had previously worked for companies such as Lufkin Automation, Tatneft, Nort Telecom, and National Instruments and had expertise in oil production, industrial automation, SCADA systems, networking, and information technologies.

2013 — Change of ownership

In 2013, Spirit Global Energy Solutions Inc. handed over its ownership interest in NAFTAMATIKA and was subsequently acquired by Dover Corporation.

A proven portfolio

Since its foundation, NAFTAMATIKA has developed a broad portfolio of proprietary algorithms, software, and hardware products. Each solution was tested under real field conditions, improved through practical experience, and prepared for large-scale deployment.

Today — Deployed worldwide

Today, technologies developed by NAFTAMATIKA have been deployed on thousands of production wells across North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and CIS countries.

Our advantages

We use modern technologies in the conservative field of industrial automation

Smart algorithms

based on analysis of the digital well model

Modular architecture

allowing implementation of any customer requirements with minimal costs

Unique system for equipment monitoring and diagnostics

based on the artificial intelligence system “Digital Technologist”

Scientific activity

Our company conducts research and development in the following areas:

IoT (industrial internet of things) in oil production

in order to organize data exchange between oilfield objects to increase response speed to emerging situations, facilitate integration of third-party equipment and software, and provide data to the operator without being tied to a workstation

Use of neural network pattern recognition in well controllers

for automatic correction of calculations in control algorithms, early detection of malfunctions of surface and downhole equipment based on characteristic features on the dynagraph card, which together ensures an increase in time between overhauls

Use of artificial intelligence technologies for trend analysis

in order to track the dynamics of technological parameters of controlled objects, which will allow taking actions to prevent emergency situations and plan maintenance and repair works

“Every solution we develop is based on deep engineering expertise and a precise understanding of oilfield processes.”

Andrey Sevastyanov — CEO, Naftamatika s.r.o.

Why it matters

Importance of our developments

Sucker rod pumps are one of the key methods of oil production; however, their operation is associated with a number of difficulties, including high equipment wear and labor intensity of maintenance. Early detection of malfunctions allows avoiding serious breakdowns, reducing downtime, and lowering repair costs.

Traditional diagnostic methods require involvement of qualified personnel and significant time costs, which makes automation of this task a priority direction.

Methodology

Methods and approaches in the company’s research

We have developed a three-layer neural network that analyzes pump dynagraph cards in real time for malfunction recognition.

01

Data collection and processing

Use of a database of thousands of dynagraph cards with examples of malfunctions. Preliminary data processing includes noise filtering and extraction of key features.

02

Neural network architecture

A three-layer network with 200 neurons at the input, 28 in the hidden layer, and 16 at the output corresponding to diagnosed defects.

03

Network training

Training algorithms use the backpropagation method. Data augmentation techniques are applied to improve generalization capability.

04

Implementation of diagnostics

Algorithms are integrated into controllers on wells for real-time data analysis and issuing recommendations.

05

Testing and simulation

A well software simulator is used to test algorithms before deployment.

06

Integration

Solutions are integrated into SCADA systems, providing centralized control and algorithm updates.
